Our scientific work focuses on the regulation of systemic and pulmonary vessels, airways and heart function.

Long-term goal is the analysis and identification of underlying signaling pathways that enable the targeted therapy of vascular, lung and heart diseases.

Role of the endocannabinoid system in the lung

We are especially interested in the role of endocannabinoids for the modulation of pulmonary blood pressure and airway tone.

Magnetic nanoparticles for targeted gene and cell therapy

We aim to develop novel methods for the targeted gene and cell therapy of vessels and airways using magnetic nanoparticles.

Direct pharmacological GPCR and G protein modulation in the lung

We are interested in GPCR- and G protein-dependent signaling mechanisms and their pharmacological modulation in blood vessels and airways.

Mechanisms of vessel formation

We are interested in the mechanisms of vascular growth during development (embryonic stem cell (ES) system, mouse embryo) and after tissue injury (e.g. myocardial infraction).
